Colleen Bowler, CFP® and Jeanne Hurlbert, PhD founded C&J Innovations to give financial professionals tools that let them expand conversations with clients and prospects beyond the financial realm, into all areas of life.
After working for 25 years with clients, Colleen understood that *real* planning must incorporate goals for wellness, longevity, family, and purpose, to help clients and prospects envision a richer future in all areas of their lives. This experience, combined with Jeanne’s expertise in building assessments and scorecards that engage clients and prospective clients, as well as her sociological expertise, provided the inspiration for The Passport Package™.
Colleen and Jeanne are proud to have founded this woman-owned business to help advisors and clients achieve their personal and financial goals.

For each mindset, you will be asked to rate, using a 1-12 scale, WHERE YOU ARE NOW and WHERE YOU WANT TO BE on that mindset. Please read the first 4 statements for each mindset and click the number (1-12) that best represents where you are now on that mindset. Then, move forward to the next set of statements and click the number that represents your goal for that mindset.

About Colleen
A Certified Financial Planner, Colleen spent over 25 years building and growing her firm, Strategic Wealth Partners, into a premier Texas financial planning firm with hundreds of individuals and families “under our care.” Along the way, she received many industry awards and was featured in the book, Women at the Top by Arthea Reed and Diane Dixon. In addition, Colleen has served as a coach with the Strategic Coach Program since 2003, all while raising a son as a single mom, co-authoring a book, Generous Kids, and making time for her blended and extended family, friends, and a variety of non-profits.
In 2020, Colleen founded C&J Innovations with Jeanne Hurlbert, PhD, who brings expertise in assessments and surveys. Colleen and Jeanne combined their unique expertise to create a female-led company that gives financial professionals tools to bring increased value for prospects, clients, and advisors by expanding client and prospect conversations.
About Jeanne
Jeanne Hurlbert, PhD brings expertise in assessments and surveys, social networks, and Artificial Intelligence(AI)/predictive analytics.
Jeanne spent over 25 years on faculty at Louisiana State University, where she directed the Louisiana Population Center Survey Research Lab. Her research was funded by organizations such as the National Science Foundation and she served on multiple National Science Foundational panels, as well as on the editorial boards of Social Forces and the Journal of Health and Social Behavior. Her numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals led her to become a recognized expert in social capital.
Jeanne’s passion for the mission of C&J Innovations comes in part from watching her father, a country banker, help local residents build houses for their families and secure their futures—sometimes when no other bank would “take a chance” on them.
Jeanne has been featured or quoted in such media as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The LA Times, USA Today, Oprah and Friends, SmartMoney, SmallBiz, Forbes.com, US News and World Report, Radio-TV Interview Report, Nature, The Christian Science Monitor, National Public Radio, and Business Talk This Morning.
About Alana
Alana has 10 years of experience in customer service; with an emphasis in retail management, strategic planning, and team coordination. She spent 5 years with Half Price Books in St. Paul, MN. During her time there, she cultivated a passion for literacy advocacy, sustainability, and community outreach. Alana’s support for the mission of C&J comes from watching her retired parents struggle with financial uncertainties at the end of their careers. She believes The Passport Package(TM) is an extremely valuable tool that will cultivate beneficial conversations between advisors and clients of all age groups and financial situations.
Alana holds a B.A. in Communication and International Relations from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She is thrilled to bring her interpersonal skills to C&J Innovations and the world of financial services!

For seventeen years in her role as Executive Director of The Resource Group–an organization dedicated to the success of top financial advisors–Hilary has worked with hundreds of successful financial advisors. From this experience, Hilary gleaned a critical insight: To achieve success, today’s financial advisors must help clients achieve their goals in all aspects of their lives. As a result, in addition to her ongoing role with The Resource Group, Hilary now advocates for advisors to use The Passport Package(TM) to forge deeper relationships with clients by helping them achieve what’s important to them.
Hilary holds an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies from The University of Texas at Dallas. Her charitable work includes numerous roles with the National Charity League and Texas PTA.

Ben worked with Equifax for 12 years, in a small division tasked with developing emerging technologies into solutions for making loan application processing faster, less error prone, and more secure. He left Equifax to work as an independent consultant in 2007, and he has since worked on large projects, designing and implementing systems in banking, government, health care, and insurance sectors. Notable clients include the Lousiana Road Home program, FifthThird Bank, Louisiaia Medicaid program, Bank of the West, and Stonetrust Insurance Corp. In addition to being a good project manager and system designer, Ben is a guru when it comes to data analysis and query optimization. He also does full stack development and continues to love learning new technologies.
